Home Mentor

Mentor Eligibility Requirements

  • Be currently studying toward or graduated from a health study career pathway. Additionally, those currently employed as health professionals.
  • Agree to commit to the 12 week programme duration
  • Commit to spending a minimum of 4 hours per month with the mentee
  • Complete the screening procedures, including police vetting
  • Be willing to adhere to all Kia Ora Hauora E-Mentoring Programme policies and procedures
  • Provide proof of identity e.g Passport, drivers licence
  • Commit to weekly communication with the mentee
  • Agree to attend mentor trainings as required
  • Be willing to communicate regularly with the programme coordinator and submit monthly meeting and activity information
  • Have no criminal convictions
  • Have never been accused, arrested, charged or convicted of child abuse or molestation
  • Not be a user of illicit drugs
  • Not use alcohol or controlled substances in an excessive or inappropriate manner
  • Not be currently in treatment for substance abuse
  • Not currently in treatment for a mental disorder or have been hospitalised for a mental disorder
  • Not falsify any information during the course of the screening and recruitment processes

Home Mentee

Mentee Eligibility Requirements

  • Be a current year 13 student at a New Zealand secondary school
  • Be a registered member of the KOH programme
  • Demonstrate a desire to pursue a health career pathway
  • Be able to obtain parental/guardian permission and ongoing support for participation in the programme
  • Agree to commit to the 12 week programme duration
  • Commit to spending a minimum of 4 hours a month with the mentor
  • Identify as Maori
  • Be willing to adhere to all Kia Ora Hauora E-Mentoring programme policies and procedures
  • Commit to weekly communication with the mentor
  • Complete screening procedures
  • Agree to attend mentee trainings as required
  • Be willing to communicate regularly with the programme coordinator and discuss monthly meeting and
  • activity information if and when required
  • Not falsify any information during the course of the screening and recruitment processes
